Flush

Toilet flushes are the one of the main reasons of high water bills in all households. To solve this problem, the Australians came up with the idea of dual flush toilets in 1980’s. In 1980, Bruce Thompson from Caroma Industries, Australia invented flushes based on the concept of Dual Flush Technology.

The flushes based on this concept, used 67% less water than the normal flushes available at that time. It had a very convenient method of flushing out both kinds of wastes- solid as well as liquid keeping in view that much water is not wasted.

Dual Flush Technology basically incorporates two buttons for the disposal of waste. One of the two buttons is used for the disposal of liquid waste and the other button is for flushing out solid waste. Normally 2.8 gallons of water is used for flushing out the waste every time in a conventional flush.

But in this dual flush system, .8 to 1.1 gallons of water is used for flushing out liquid waste and around 1.6 gallons of water is used for disposing solid waste. Hence, around 67% less water is used overall. And this greatly reduces the water bills and makes the toilet flush highly efficient.
