Home Decor Information & Tips

Invariably, the decor of our home is an item that people use to distinguish what kind of person we are. Rooms in our home do give off a specific characterization that we can be judged by, and allow insights into our likes and dislikes. A good example might be the way our more practical sides show up in the way we design storage space in our kitchens. On the other hand, individuals who put in constant days of hard work will likely find themselves decorating their post-work lounge areas in soft neutral tones to help them relax.
A person’s bedroom, if painted in red and decorated with satin sheets indicates a very different type of personality that most people will never see. That’s a good tip for determining the decor for our homes - have different plans for public versus private areas. When you have a party, for instance, you will naturally have different areas in your home which you shall open up to guests and ones which will be off limits.
Generally speaking, because bedrooms and associated areas will not be seen by anyone other than the home owner and close friends, you can save the luxury for those areas. A very popular part of any decor is flooring, and the type of floor that you choose will depend on how highly traveled your floor is. As with other types of home decoration, the colors, types, and quality put into the home’s floor can give important clues to the characterization of the individual. A luxurious wool carpet would be ideal underfoot in the bedroom, but a hard wearing laminate would be more practical for the hallway.
Your personality will also be evident in the accessories you select to complement your decor. How the tool of lighting is used will determine the way the rooms of your home are seen by visitors. Whether you are looking for more light that you actually need, or simply looking to light areas for aesthetic reasons, a spotlight is a great way to give your home the extra light it needs. These tips are easy to apply to the majority of your home.
Highlighting specific objects that mean a good deal to you is easy when using spotlights and single light fittings. Mood lighting may fit the needs of a minimalist decorator better, however. You may not realize it, but the decor in any home says a lot about the type of person living there.
